Biography
Love of the natural world drew Shelley Ross to a career in natural heritage interpretation. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada.
​Much of her work involved creating illustrations for panels and brochures for interpretive trails and visitor centre exhibits in natural environment and historic parks. Some of these sites include Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park, Greenwater Provincial Park and Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park in Saskatchewan. She has worked with Parks Canada, Ministry of Natural Resources in Ontario, Saskatchewan Environment and Resource Management, and the Western Development Museum in Saskatchewan.
Ross' first solo exhibition entitled Lichens of the Kootenay Valley: Lovely, Luscious and Likeable was featured at the Langham Cultural Centre in Kaslo, British Columbia (BC) in 2010. In 2011, she was a participant in the Art in the Park project in Glacier National Park, BC. Her second solo exhibition, Inner Rainforest was featured at Gallery 2 in Grand Forks, BC in 2018, at the Langham Cultural Centre in Kaslo, BC in 2019, and at the Peachland Art Gallery in Peachland, BC in 2020. In June, 2019, she was awarded an artist residency at the Wallace Stegner House in Eastend, Saskatchewan. Her most recent exhibition, Prairie Perspectives, Langham Cultural Centre, 2023 developed from her time spent in Eastend.
